PROFILE
200 countries and territories, enabling them to use digital currency instead of cash and checks.
Visa has built one of the world’s most advanced processing networks. It’s capable of handling more than 20,000 transactions
per second, with reliability, convenience and security, including fraud protection for consumers and guaranteed payment for
merchants.
Visa does not issue cards, extend credit or set rates and fees for consumers. Visa’s innovations, however, enable its bank
customers to offer consumers more choices: Pay now with debit, ahead of time with prepaid or later with credit products. In
fact, approximately 70 percent of Visa payment transactions in the United States are debit and prepaid, not credit.
Governments here and abroad have switched to digital currency instead of checks for benefits payments and purchasing in
order to increase efficiency and lower costs, saving taxpayers money.
From the world’s major cities to remote areas without banks, people are increasingly relying on digital currency along with
mobile technology to use their money any time, make purchases online, transfer funds across borders and access basic
financial services. All of which makes their lives easier and grows economies.
